Beaver Creek’s Annual Cookie Competition kicks off the ski season with a sweet celebration of the resort’s world-famous chocolate chip cookies. On Opening Day, five talented finalists present their best recipes for guests to sample throughout the village. Visitors can taste, compare, and cast their votes for the most irresistible cookie, making this beloved event both delicious and interactive. The fun concludes with an awards ceremony at 5:00pm, honoring the baker behind Beaver Creek’s newest signature cookie creation.

Join in the fun every Thursday during the ski season for an enchanting experience with our Thursday Night Lights ski down. Skiers of level 5 or higher are encouraged to sign up in the afternoon. Each participant will be provided with a luminous baton for a glowing adventure. After registration, skiers, alongside our ski school, will descend via the Haymeadow gondola for an awe-inspiring show. As part of this weekly affair, guests can revel in a dazzling fireworks display from the mountain's peak after the thrilling ski down.

Beginning at 7:15am at Centennial Express lift, guests are greeted by knowledgeable hosts and guided to the best early morning terrain. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Vail with the beloved Torchlight Parade and Fireworks at Golden Peak. The Vail Ski and Snowboard School instructors illuminate the mountain, skiing in formation with glowing flares for a breathtaking torchlight descent. Immediately following, a brilliant fireworks show lights up the sky above Vail Mountain. Visible from Vail Village, Golden Peak, Lionshead, and even West Vail, this short but spectacular display creates a magical moment for guests to welcome the new year.

The Talons Challenge | BEAVER CREEK

The Talons Challenge at Beaver Creek is a test for expert skiers and riders: 14 of the resort’s most demanding black and double-black runs, combining for over 26,000 vertical feet in a single day. Participants can also compete across both weekend days for the “Master of the Mountain” title.
Check-in starts early morning, and included in the registration fee are lunch, swag, and an après experience in the village with live music and prizes. Find out if you have what it takes to conquer all of Beaver Creek's black and double black runs in one day.

Celebrate Vail’s rich history during Legacy Weekend, honoring the 10th Mountain Division with exciting public events and commemorations. Highlights include the Riva Ridge Ski Down, where troops descend the iconic slope in tribute, accompanied by live music from the 10th Mountain Band in Vail Village and the Ski Yard. Guests can also witness the thrilling Black Hawk helicopter landing at the top of Chair 2. Legacy Weekend combines history, community, and mountain adventure, offering a unique experience for visitors of all ages.

From the coziness of the Vilar Performing Arts Center, the spirits of the holidays come to life through the lens of a jazz classic when acclaimed pianist and composer Isaiah J. Thompson and his quartet deliver the heartwarming gift this holiday season of A Guaraldi Holiday. Paying tribute to the timeless music of Vince Guaraldi, the American jazz pianist best known for composing the soundtrack for “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” The Juilliard graduate and now faculty member offers a nostalgic yet fresh take on these beloved songs. Thompson, a jazz musician and performer, has released multiple recordings as a leader and was named the winner of the American Pianists Awards in 2023.

The audience is sure to smile more when multi-faceted, award-winning vocalist, songwriter, author and actor Leslie Odom, Jr. takes the Vilar stage with a holidayinspired performance. Well known for his breakout role as the original “Aaron Burr” in the smash hit Broadway musical Hamilton, Odom, Jr. has received recognition with a Tony Award and Grammy Award, as well as multiple Emmy Award and Academy Award nominations. In 2017, his second album and first holiday release Simply Christmas hit No. 1 on iTunes and the Billboard Jazz charts. His critically acclaimed second holiday album, The Christmas Album, was released in 2020. Celebrate the holidays in Beaver Creek with the man who spans Broadway, television, film and music.

Your unforgettable adventure begins at 7:15 a.m. at the base of Centennial Express lift. Our First Tracks hosts will greet you in the morning of your early access and then offer the best terrain recommendations. Once you've worked up an appetite by leaving your freshly carved tracks on the mountain, you'll head over to Beaver Creek's mid-mountain lodge, Spruce Saddle, where an amazing culinary team will welcome your group to a delicious buffet breakfast—a rewarding treat for a job well done. Along with a delicious breakfast, you'll receive a custom First Tracks pin, Helly Hansen swag and exclusive prizes from American Express.

Ring in the New Year with us for a special New Year's Eve edition of Thursday Night Lights! Skiers that are level 5 or above are encouraged to register in the afternoon. Each participant will receive a light up baton for the glow. Once registration concludes, skiers along with our ski school will upload onto the Haymeadow gondola for the spectacular show. As part of this weekly event, guests will be delighted with fireworks display from the top of the mountain, following the ski down. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the glowworm and enjoy the music. Please Note: There will not be a Thursday Night Lights on January 1st, 2026. The event will continue throughout the remainder of the ski season starting on January 8th, 2026.
